Spotify’s end-of-year stats show how you listened to music all year. But thanks to the recently released feature “Your Sound Capsule” you can now get year-round listening stats.
This feature lets you discover new music, find your average song BPM, find your top songs and artists, and compare your listening habits with yourself and the world to see how many times you’ve played a song. Here’s all you need to understand about “Your Sound Capsule” on Spotify.
How to access “Spotify Sound Capsule”
Before we start, make sure you update Spotify to the newest version. Afterward, tap on your profile icon located in the top left corner, then select “Your Sound Capsule” to access it.
What is “Your Sound Capsule” on Spotify?
Your Sound Capsule is similar to Spotify Wrapped which lets you view your listening stats and habits. But unlike Spotify Wrapped or Apple’s monthly music replay, it does so for every month until January 2023.
It’s not even a passing slideshow. By tapping on any card and viewing additional details.
‘Time Heard’ Card
For example, if we select ‘listening time’ for the current month, we’ll get the daily listening time, the daily average, as well as our favorite time to listen to music (morning, for now).
Below that, there’s a section that describes how we did compared to the average person in our area. There’s a ‘Music for Right Now’ suggestion to jump down to. And all this from just one card.
‘Top Artist’ and ‘Top Songs’ cards
Both of these cards are similar in layout but have unique stats to offer.
The ‘Top Artists’ card shows your top five artists out of the total number of artists you’ve listened to in the month. Under each artist, it shows how much time you spent listening to them.
Scroll down to find additional stats like how these artists perform on Spotify in terms of popularity, as well as recommendations that are similar to your top artists.
The ‘Top Songs’ card, on the other hand, shows your top five songs out of the total number of songs you listened to in the month. Below each song, you’ll find the total number of plays.
Scroll down to see the average BPM of your songs and recommendations similar to your top songs. Spotify also shows the percentage change in general listening stats compared to the previous month, or if an artist or song has gained or lost its usual position.
Milestones
If you’re in the top 1% of an artist’s listeners, or if you’ve listened to music for a certain number of hours, such milestones will also earn you a card.
There are other cards you’ll find such as the ‘Unique Combo Like You’ which combines two different artists you listen to in the same week.
There are some limitations such as not being able to share these statistics with others. Being a recent feature, it is currently not even available on Windows. But as far as testing your listening habits is concerned, over the course of several months, your sound capsule is an expanded, more in-depth version of Spotify Wrapped that hits the mark.
We hope you now have a better idea of how your listening habits shape up with Spotify’s Your Sound Capsule. Until next time!
